Academic Search Premier (EBSCOhost)

This resource is designed specifically for academic institutions, contains full text for more than 4,700 publications are full text 3,700 of which are peer-reviewed. This scholarly collection offers information in nearly every area of academic study including: social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies, and many more.

Arts & Humanities Search
This citation index references approximately 1,300 of the world's significant arts and humanities journals.

JSTOR
Provides electronic full text/image access to the back issues of several hundred scholarly journals in many fields including over 50 journals in history.

Project MUSE
Provides electronic full text/image access to articles from over 400 scholarly journals in the humanities, social sciences and mathematics from over 100 non-profit publisher.

Social Science Citation Index 2001+
A multidisciplinary database covering almost 2000 of the most significant social sciences journals in 50 disciplines. Older paper volumes, 1973-1976, 1985-1996, are shelved on the library's main floor in the Abstracts & Indexes area (016.3.So13).

Sociological Abstracts 1963+
The Sociological Abstracts database indexes and provides abstracts for journal articles from sociology and related disciplines including history. In addition, it covers relevant association papers and PhD and Master's theses. Older journal articles are also covered in the paper Sociological Abstracts shelved on the library's lower leve in the Bound Periodicals area (305.So15).

Biography and Genealogy Master Index
This database indexes current, readily available reference sources, as well as the most important retrospective works that cover individuals, both living and deceased, from every field of activity and from all areas of the world.  

Current Contents
This multidisciplinary, current awareness resource provides indexing, tables of contents, and abstracts to over 6,000 journals covering a broad range of disciplines. Many clinical and social/behavioral journals are included in this database.

 

Dissertation Abstracts 1861+

A database that provides a subject, title and author guide to over 1.2 million doctoral dissertations and master theses written since 1861and features abstracts of dissertations in all academic disciplines. (1956-80 in paper at Abstracts/Main Level 013.379.D633)

 

GEOBASE  1980+

This is a unique multidisciplinary database supplying bibliographic information and abstracts for development studies, the Earth sciences, ecology, geomechanics, human geography, and oceanography. The database provides current coverage of over 1,800 journals and archive coverage of several thousand additional titles. The material covered includes refereed scientific papers; trade journal and magazine articles; product reviews, directories and any other relevant material. These two sources index reviews of books and serials in newspapers, popular periodicals, and scholarly journals.

 

Historical Abstracts. Parts A & B 1970-1999 (Abstracts/Main Level 909.05.H629.2)

Historical Abstracts is an extensive index that covers world history from 1450 to the present (excluding the United States and Canada, which are covered in America: History and Life). Currently over 2,000 journals published throughout the world are covered in this database. It includes entries for books published, but not book reviews.

 

British Humanities Index 1962-1999 (Indexes/Main Level 050.B777)

An abstracting and indexing service covering around 350 British journals and newspapers in the humanities area.

Index to Book Reviews in the Humanities 1960-90 (Indexes/Main Level 028.1.In2)

New York Times Index (1851-1994 in paper at Indexes/Main Level 071 .N482)
A comprehensive index to the New York Times newspaper. Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe indexes recent years of the New York Times and provides some full text.

Nineteenth Century Readers' Guide to Periodical Literature.... (Indexes/Main Level 051.R2281)

Indexes periodicals published between 1890-1899. Supplementary indexing goes to 1922.
