This American hospital Formulary Service publication provides comprehensive information on almost all drugs in use in the U.S. including administration dosage, chemical stability, pharmacology, uses and cautions, drug interactions, and more.

Appleton & Lange's Drug Guide. (Reference RS156 .A66)
Drug information for health care providers.

American Drug Index. (Upper Level RS355 .A5)
American Drug Index is a facts and comparisons publication of drug information that presents monographs of drug products, practical equivalents, normal laboratory values, trademark glossary, container requirements, oral dosage information, drug names that look alike, agents for imaging, pharmaceutical company labeler code index, and more. Older (1964-2000) paper editions of ADI are shelved at RS355.A5 on the upper level.

CPS: Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties. (Reference RS141.23 .C61)
An annual publication of the Canadian Pharmacists Association that presents pharmaceutical information including manufacturers' product monographs, a product recognition guide, a manufacturers index, clinical practice information, patient information, and more.

CRC Desk Reference of Clinical Pharmacology. (Reference RM301.12 .E23 1998)
Presents short reviews of important topics of clinical pharmacology, short descriptions of medications in use today, and dictionary-style entries describing the exact therapeutic use of medications.

A Dictionary of Pharmacology and Allied Topics. (Reference RS 51.L38 1998)
Brief definitions of terminology relevant to pharmacologists and anyone interested in drugs or medicines.

Drug Facts and Comparisons. (Reserve RM300 .F33)
Drug Facts and Comparisons provides comprehensive information about U.S. drugs including action, indications, contraindications, warnings, precautions, adverse reactions, administration, and dosage information. No longer updated in Briggs Library).


Drug Topics Red Book. (Reference HD9666.4 .D75)
Lists more than 150,000 prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and other products with the latest pricing information, trademarked names, generic cross-references, suppliers, and NDC numbers.

Goodman and Gilman's The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics. (Reference RM300.G644)
The objectives of this important reference book are to correlate pharmacology information with other related medical sciences, reinterpret the actions and uses of drugs from the viewpoint of important advances in medicine, and place emphasis on the applications of pharmacodynamics to therapeutics.

Handbook of Nonprescription Drugs. (Reference RM671 .A1H35)
Information on over-the-counter products for pharmacists and consumers arranged under broad chapter headings such as Antacid Products, Diabetes Care Products, etc.

Martindale: The Complete Drug Reference. (Reference RS141.3 .M32)
Previously titled Martindale: The Extra Pharmacopeia, this reference volume provides unbiased evaluated information on the drugs and medicines used throughout the world.

Merck Index. (Information Desk RS51 .M4)
Provides concise descriptions of more than 10,000 organic and inorganic chemicals, drugs, and biological substances. Entries include formulas, alternate names, physical properties, uses, toxicity, and journal and patent references.

Pharmacological and Chemical Synonyms. (Reference RS51.M32 1994)
An alphabetical compilation of names used for drugs, pesticides and other substances of pharmacological or biochemical interest.

Physicians' Desk Reference. (Latest edition Reference RS75 .P51)
The PDR presents essential information on major pharmaceutical and diagnostic products including composition, action, use, dosage, side effects, etc. Data are presented for over 4,000 drugs by product and generic name, manufacturer, and category. Older editions are shelved on the upper level.

Physicians' Desk Reference Companion Guide. (Reference RM671.A1P51)
This complementary clinical reference for the PDR assures safe, appropriate drug selection using many critical checkpoints: Interactions Index, Side Effects Index, Food Interactions Cross-Reference, Indications Index, Contraindications Index, Off-label Treatment Guide, Cost of Therapy Guide, International Drug Guide, and a Generic Availability Table.

A pharmacological reference resource covering herbal remedies.

Physicians Desk Reference for Nonprescription Drugs. (Reference RM671 .A1P5)
The PDR for nonprescription drugs.

Remington, The Science and Practice of Pharmacy.
formerly Remington's Pharmaceutical Sciences. (Latest edition Reference RS41 .R4)
A classic reference work for pharmacists. The format consists of eight parts covering orientation, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, testing/analysis/control, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, pharmaceutical and medicinal agents,pharmaceutical manufacturing, and pharmacy practice. Newer editions include CD-ROM disks containing with companion text. Older editions are shelved on the upper level.

Residency Directory 2000. (Reference RS103.R474 2000)

This American Society of Health-System Pharmacists publication lists practice sites that have pharmacy residency training programs that meet the qualifications of one of the Society's residency accreditation standards.

Articles on adverse drug reactions and interactions.

Therapeutic Guide to Herbal Medicines, The Complete German Commission E Monographs. (Reference RM666 .H33T45 1998)  Information on the therapeutic use of herbs and phytomedicines developed by the "expert committee" of the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices in Germany.  This English edition was published by the American Botanical Council.

U.S. Pharmacopeia, National Formulary. (Latest edition Reference RS141.2 .U48)
An official compendium of drug information from the United State Pharmacopeial Convention. Presents official monographs of information about drug substances and dosage forms, pharmaceutic ingredients, and drug standards and specifications. Older editions are shelved on the upper level.

USP Dictionary of Drug names. (Reference RS55 .U54)
An annual list of drug nonproprietary names, brand names, Chemical Abstracts registry numbers, molecular and graphic formulas, and code designations.

USPDI, Vol. 1, Drug Information for the Health Care Professional, Vol. II, Advice for the Patient. (Latest edition Reference RM300 .U83, Vol. II
Vol. III, Approved Drug Products and Legal Requirements. (Latest edition Reference RS79.U86)
The US Pharmacopeia provides authoritative drug information for health care professionals including indications, pharmacology/pharmacokinetics, precautions, side/adverse effects, dosing, overdose, therapeutic equivalence, federal legal requirements regarding prescribing and dispensing, and patient consultation. Older paper editions of USP DI are shelved on the upper level.

Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine. (Reference RC41.G35)
This five-volume medical encyclopedia provides basic information regarding common medical disorders, conditions, tests, and treatments.

Gray's Anatomy. (Reference QM23.2 .G73)
A classic work providing illustrations and text about human anatomy.

Macmillan Health Encyclopedia. (Reference RA776 .M174)
A nine-volume set that provides basic information on how the body works, the causes and treatment of hundreds of diseases, the importance of diet and exercise, key issues in emotional health, use and abuse of legal and illegal drugs, and more.

Magill's Medical Guide, Health and Illness. (Reference RC41 .M34)
This six-volume set presents an overview of the health care field including major disorders or diseases and the basic medical sciences and professions.

Medical and Health Annual. (Reference R5 .M38)
An annual survey and review of health and health care from Britannica.

The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy. (Reference RC55 .M4)
Provides useful clinical information about diagnosis and treatment to health care professionals.

Mosby's Manual of Diagnostic and Laboratory Tests. (Reference RB38.2.P34)
Provides information about clinically relevant laboratory and diagnostic tests.

Patient's Guide to Medical Tests. (Reference RC71 .P38)
Simplified information about medical tests.

Stedman's Medical Dictionary. (Information Desk R121 .S8)
