Federal Search Tools and Databases:

Catalog of United States Government Publications-A finding tool for federal publications that includes descriptive records for historical and current publications and links to those available online.

EDGAR (Securities & Exchange Commission Filings & Forms)- Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval system (EDGAR), performs automated collection, validation, indexing, acceptance, and forwarding of submissions by companies and others who are required by law to file forms with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

    NSCEP/NEPIS - EPA's Gateway to Free Digital & Paper Publications

ERIC - Index to literature relating to educational research and practice.

Registry of U.S. Government Publication Digitization Projects (Government Printing Office Initiative)-Contains records for digitization projects of U.S. government publications.

GAO Reports-Government Accounting Office

GPO Access - Search and retrieve Legislative, Executive, and Judicial information from the US Government Printing Office

Locator Tools and Services (GPO Access)-These locator tools, developed by GPO and partners, link to government information products in the Federal Depository Library Program Electronic Collection (FDLP/EC) and at other Federal government agency sites.

NOAA Publications (Climatological Data, Local Climatological Data, Hourly Precipitation Data, Monthly Climatic Data for the World, Storm Data) Online data available with login. Ask for assistance from a Reference Librarian. (see also http://www.noaa.gov/)

 

NRCS Soils Surveys-National Resources and Conservation Service List of Soil Surveys by State

NTIS/GPO DARTS- National Technical Information Service (NTIS) and Government Printing Office (GPO) Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) Depository Access to Reports, Technical & Scientific (DARTS) provides bibliographic records to nearly 240,000 publications 1964-2000 and links to online content when available. Only available in the library. Ask for log in assistance from a Reference Librarian.

LexisNexis Statistical - Comprehensive access to statistical information from Congressional Information Service, Inc.

MarciveWeb DOCS - Search for U.S. Government Publications from July 1976 to the present.

Medline - Database of citations to articles relating to medical topics. From the National Library of Medicine.

National Criminal Justice Reference Service  (NCJRS) Abstracts Database - Subject areas include corrections, courts, drugs and crime, law enforcement, juvenile justice, crime statistics, domestic preparedness, and victims of crime. 

Wildlife & Ecology Studies Worldwide - The world’s largest index to literature on wild mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians.

Google Government - Search for government information on the Web

State Agency Databases from the Government Documents Roundtable of the American Library Association

USA.gov - Information portal for the US Federal Government. Intended to be a starting point for finding government information on the Internet.
