American Alliance for Health, Physical
Education, Recreation, and Dance.
AAHPERD is
comprised of six national associations including the American Association
for Active Lifestyles & Fitness (AAALF);
American Association for Health Education (AAHE);
American Association for Leisure & Recreation (AALR);
National Association for Girls & Women in Sport (NAGWS);
National Association for Sport & Physical Education (NASPE);
and the National Dance Association (NDA).
Six district associations and a research consortium complete the alliance
whose mission is to support healthy lifestyles through high quality
programs.
NATA-National Athletic Trainers' Association
The NATA is
the professional certification organization for athletic trainers whose
mission is to enhance the quality of health care for athletes and promote
the athletic training profession through education, and research.
NCAA Online
The official Web site of the National Collegiate Athletic Association
includes information on NCAA sports, championships, news, NCAA publications,
education/outreach, rules and eligibility for collegiate sports in the
United States.
Women's Sports Foundation
An
organization focusing on on physical activity for girls and women and issues
related to women's sports and physical activities.

Excellent question-and-answer session on High School Athletics.
Discussion is tailored for Wisconsin but with very few exceptions is helpful
for other states as well.
Making
It Equal
Broad-based discussion written for Coaching Management Magazine covers the
fundamentals of Title IX and its application to athletics. Specific emphasis
of the article on equal access to facilities.
National Women's Law Center Equity Checklist
The NWLC has developed an athletic equity questionnaire that can be
downloaded as a .PDF file or read from the site. A fairly comprehensive
analysis of the issues of equity in athletics. Makes good use of the
background of some top staff attorneys cooperating at the National Women's
Law Center.

ERIC-Education Resources Information Center
ERIC, sponsored by the Institute
of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education, produces
the world’s premier database of journal and non-journal education
literature. ERIC is now a centralized bibliographic database of more
than 1.1 million citations dating to 1966. Effective October 1, more than
107,000 full-text non-journal documents (issued 1993-2004), previously
available through fee-based services only, will be available for free.

A project of
the University of Michigan Digital
Library Production Services, originally funded through a Mellon grant
whose goal is to create a collection of free online easily searchable
academically-oriented digital resources.
Test Reviews Online
Buros
Institute of Mental Measurements provides an online index to general
information about over 400 tests and information for finding test reviews.
Tests reviewed in Mental Measurements Yearbook are available
for purchase. (Free reviews available in the print version of Mental
Measurements Yearbook located in Reference BF431.A11 B8m).
Health Promotion
Health, Nutrition, and P. E. Resources and Lesson Plans
A collection of Web sites pertaining to health,
nutrition, and physical education. Features resources for grades K-12,
curriculum enrichment materials, lesson plans, and other activities.
Includes such topics as germs, aging, genes and heredity, the spinal cord,
first aid, fruits and vegetables, cholesterol, aerobics, and fitness. Links
to National Standards for Health Education and Physical Education.
National Children's Study
South
Dakota State University has a five year contract with the National
Children's Study, the largest research study of the environment's effects on
children's health and development. The study will involve over 100,000
children nationwide from before birth until age 21. Federal agency partners
include the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the National
Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the National Institute of
Environmental Health Sciences, the National Institutes of Health, the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency.
