INTEGRATED SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN, South Dakota State University. Hilton M. Briggs Library in Brookings, SD, is seeking an Integrated Systems Librarian to provide technology support and development assistance, primarily to the library's Technical Services Division comprised of serials, cataloging, acquisitions, and computer support services. This is a 12-month position with faculty rank. Minimum qualifications include: ALA-accredited master’s degree in library science; second master’s degree; experience in an academic or research library; knowledge of and experience with Ex Libris ALEPH system, MetaLib, and SFX; effective interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively; employment experience in integrated library systems; graduate coursework and/or employment experience in one or more of the following: digitization, federated searching, serials control, cataloging, metadata, acquisitions, collection development, networking, server applications. General Statement of Duties:
SDBOR is currently searching for a Programmer/Senior Programmer Analyst. The fundamental purpose of this position is to develop and maintain assigned information systems to ensure efficient systems integration and operation. Incumbent will apply and expand client business knowledge in solving business problems to meet the needs of clients.
This position will be the primary web programming support for the SDLN systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Note - This incumbent will be placed at a Programmer Analyst or Senior Programmer Analyst dependent upon their knowledge, skills and ability.
Knowledge of: principals, theories and concepts of computer programming; design and knowledge of related fields of computer technology; tools and technologies available to meet client information requirements; and operating characteristics of the state's information systems environment. Specific knowledge about Aleph, Metalib, OPAC, ILL, and CR is preferred. Knowledge of graphics and publications would be beneficial.
Ability to: communicate effectively with clients in their terms and translate this information into systems terms; generate information systems solutions for clients; and provide project leadership and mentorship.
Department Description and Cultural Expectations: SDLN provides the library automation system for multiple types of libraries across South Dakota. To accomplish this, staff are expected to support multiple products/applications and to intereact with librarians to resolve problems.
