10,000 ideas for term papers, projects, reports, and speeches.-- This book comes in very handy during the search for a topic, and is kept in the Reference Area on the Main Level or on the Upper Level call number LB1047.3.L.

CQ Researcher (ALSO AVAILABLE FULL-TEXT ONLINE)-- This full-text source provides unbiased coverage of health, social trends, criminal justice, international affairs, education, the environment, technology, and the economy. Reports are published weekly in print and online 44 times a year by CQ Press, a division of Congressional Quarterly Inc. Current issues (and the latest 10 years) are kept in the general reference collection, call number REF H35.E3.

Magill's Great Events From History SeriesFrom science and technology, to human rights and ecology, this reference series provides brief historical and chronological information for a variety of events throughout history.  These books are located in the general reference collection - use the Library Catalog to find specific volumes, or ask for help at the information desk.

Magill's "Survey Of..." Series.  Another popular reference publication featuring brief articles / dictionary - style entries on a variety of topics including foreign-language cinema, life and applied sciences.  These books are located in the general reference collection - use the Library Catalog to find specific volumes, or ask for help at the information desk.

Taking Sides and Opposing Viewpoints -- These two series include multiple books on current and controversial topics such as biomedical ethics, the homeless, and AIDS.  Use the Library catalog to locate these books, using the keywords:  taking sides or opposing viewpoints.

Current issues of magazines, journals and newspapers may give you an idea of hot research topics. Look through some recent issues in the Current Periodicals area in the Reference Room on the main level of the library.

The library also has multiple subject encyclopedias and yearbooks that cover a variety of areas.  Click here for a few suggested titles or ask how to locate these materials at the information desk, and look over the index and the article titles that covers the subject area or discipline of your topic (for example, psychology, United States social history, women's studies, linguistics, environmental studies, etc.).
