BACKGROUND NOTE
The Global Studies major and minor were first offered at
South Dakota State University in 2004. It is an interdisciplinary
program to give students a wide variety of classes and background. This
program is designed to produce graduates who are globally literate, open
to diverse societies and cultures, and skilled in a modern, foreign
language.
This program seeks to provide students with an up-to-date
understanding of the components of global studies, appraisals of the
current status of global events, and job opportunities in small
international businesses, global corporations, various governmental
agencies within the United States and abroad, non-governmental
organizations and others. A primary objective of this program is to
provide global citizen training and general learning essential for
understanding and appreciating the relationship of the individual to the
world community.

This collection is
composed of
information pamphlets describing Global Studies programs at South Dakota
State University and material pertaining to the Introduction to Global
Studies course. Folders include pamphlets, correspondence, course
announcements, and a draft syllabus.
