BACKGROUND NOTE

The purpose of the South Dakota High School Coaches Association is to promote the ethics and standards of athletics for the youth of South Dakota, and to work together for the promotion of high school athletics in South Dakota.

The Board of Directors consists of four members from each sport, four athletic/activities directors, four spirit coaches, and the officers (president, president elect and executive secretary) of the organization

An annual meeting is held each summer at the South Dakota High School Coaching Clinic.

There are three types of membership:  Active members:  anyone actively coaching or directing high school athletics in South Dakota;  Allied members:  anyone coaching or directing college and/or a K-8 athletics in South Dakota and are not eligible to hold office; and Life members:  any coach/Activities Director with 25 years of service in South Dakota is eligible for the 25-year service award.

SCOPE and CONTENTS NOTE

This collection is composed of entirely of digitized banquet programs from the South Dakota High School Coaches Association.

The programs generally contain the following information: past presidents, current officers and directors, coaches of the year recipients, and an outline of the banquet program listing special guests, speakers and awards presented.  Each program includes each award winner with an accompanying photograph.
