BACKGROUND NOTE

The South Dakota Dairy Association was formed to develop, improve and promote the dairy interests of the state of South Dakota.  The Association is comprised of a board of directors which consists of a president, vice-president, and a secretary-treasurer.  This association has held conventions annually since the early 1900's.

SCOPE and CONTENTS NOTE

This collection is composed of ledgers, administrative items, publications, and assorted materials documenting the S.D. Dairy Association. Folders contain information about the Association, programs from conventions, and records from contests hosted by the Association.

The Administration series is composed of annual reports, financial statements, and a report on activities. 

The General series is composed of a photograph, newspaper clippings, a corporate seal, and medals belonging to the State Dairy Association. 

The Ledgers are composed of constitution and amendment information, financial records, minutes from meetings, convention proceedings, and critiques from butter making contests.

The Publications are composed mainly of programs from annual conventions of the South Dakota Dairy Association and the Ice Cream Manufacturers Association of South Dakota.  Also included is a booklet of the National Creamery Buttermaker's Association and Rules and Regulations for the Division of Inspections from the South Dakota Department of Agriculture.
