ARRANGEMENT of the RECORDS

The George & Evelyn Norby Collection is arranged into eight subgroups:

NA 1.1  Newspapers, 1859-2004
Collection is composed of Brookings, S. D. area newspapers from 1890s to 2004, including the Brookings Register and the Brookings County Press.

NA 1.2  Images, 1859-2004
Collection is composed of photographs and negatives of the city of Brookings, S.D., Brookings County, S.D., South Dakota State University and South Dakota.

NA 1.3  Compiled Data, 1840-2003
Collection is composed of compiled data about the city of Brookings with a small amount covering Brookings County and South Dakota.

NA 1.4  Subject Files, 1850-2004, undated
Collection is composed of subject files related to the city of Brookings, S.D., Brookings County, S.D., organizations, churches, businesses, the historic district, education, South Dakota State University, persons, military, South Dakota, Fire and Police Departments, and railroad.

NA 1.5  Directories, 1901-2003
Collection is composed of Brookings Telephone Directories from 1901-2003 as well as farm directories, South Dakota State University directories, city directories and other regional directories.

NA 1.6  Artifacts and Ephemera, 1910-1998, undated
Collection is composed of artifacts and ephemera related to Brooking City and Brookings County.

NA 1.7  Databases, 1879-2003
Collection is composed of material compiled by George Norby and covers Brookings (S.D.) related topics and includes businesses, historic homes, churches, city and county government, and South Dakota State University

NA 1.8  General, 1965-2006, undated
Collection is composed of information related to the Norby Collection at the South Dakota State University Archives; their business, Images of the Past; and personal material such as correspondence and photographs
