The mission of the South Dakota State
University Archives and Hilton M. Briggs Library Special Collections is to:

Identify, appraise, collect, organize,
describe, preserve, make available, and promote the use of:

The history and development of South
Dakota State University and those individuals and groups
involved with it,

South Dakota history and life,
including materials from South Dakota authors, South Dakotans
and South Dakota organizations.

The collection also may include
materials related to South Dakota which document the Great
Plains, the American Midwest, or North America, as resources
allow.

Provide facilities for the retention,
preservation, servicing, and research use of such materials

Provide information services to both the
University and the wider community.

Promote the knowledge and understanding
of the origins and subsequent development of the programs and goals
of South Dakota State University through the use of the archives.
