Collection Policy
 

Most material found in SDSU Archives & Hilton M. Briggs Library Special Collections is the result of either transfers from other university offices, or gifts from individuals.  All material received in Archives & Special Collections will be appraised according to this policy. 

Transfers
Transfers received from SDSU offices.

Gifts
SDSU Archives & Hilton M. Briggs Library Special Collections follows the library policy for gifts, with the following exceptions:

  • Gifts may be accepted with conditions as to their dispositions, use or locations.  All such conditions will be set forth in an Instrument of Gift signed by the donor and a library representative.

  • SDSU Archives is responsible for the accepting and processing of archival and manuscript materials.  Other material may be accepted by SDSU Archives and will be processed as best suits each particular gift.  Library departments, especially the Acquisitions Department, will consult with Archives & Special Collections staff for the suitability of particular items related to the mission of the SDSU Archives & Hilton M. Briggs Library Special Collections.

Purchase
As resources allow and as necessary, SDSU Archives & Hilton M. Briggs Library Special Collections will purchase materials related to the missions of the department.
