Circulation Services
The Circulation Desk, located in the lobby of the library, is where materials, i.e., books and other items, are checked out of the library and subsequently returned to the library. The Circulation Department keep track of who has borrowed materials and when those materials are due to be returned.  If borrowed materials are not returned by the due date, the Circulation Department sends reminders and eventually sends bills to the few patrons fail to return what they borrowed.  The department also processes the returned materials and makes sure they are reshelved in the correct location.  The Circulation Department also schedules the use of several groups-study rooms that may be reserved in advance.

Identification
You must show your own valid SDSU ID card or library guest patron card to check items out.

You are responsible for all items checked out to your ID. Be sure to notify circulation if you lose your ID so someone else can't use it. If you check library materials out for a friend, you are responsible for returning them to an appropriate location and for any fines and fees.

A faculty or staff member may allow a student or SDSU employee to check materials out for them. A proxy permission form must be on file at the library and the student/employee must have the faculty/staff member's ID with them to check materials out. The proxy permission form is available for printout here.

You may obtain a guest patron card if you are 16 years of age or over and have a valid South Dakota driver's license or photo ID. Guest patron cards are available at the circulation desk.
