Although much of your research may require
periodical literature, you may also need to consult books and other
resources during the research process. Briggs Library Distance Library
Services will deliver not only articles not available online, but also
books, documents, and videos. SDSU current students, faculty, and staff
who do not reside in the Brookings area and do not come to the Brookings
area at least once per week may request this service through Document
Delivery.
Many books in a variety of disciplines are
available online through various e-book collections. In addition, many
government publications are also available full text online. The Library
Catalog will provide a persistent link to books and government
publications that are available online. Some e-book collections such as
netLibrary will require you to set up a free account. To set up the
account, call the Information Desk so that a librarian may assist you.
Not available online? No problem! Request
delivery of books or videos via
ILLiad Distance Request Logon.
To identify books, documents, videos, and e-books
owned by Briggs Library, use the Library Catalog linked from the library
home page. The catalog may be searched by keyword, title, author, or
subject. There are additional options from the Advanced Search page drop
down menu. It is also possible to search other library collections in
South Dakota by selecting a library or All SDLN Libraries from the
“Change Library” drop down menu at the top of the page. Books not
available from Briggs or other SDLN Libraries may also be requested. The
library will attempt to borrow the items from other libraries.
