To locate articles from journals, magazines and other periodicals, use the following indexes and abstracts.

AGRICOLA  1970+  Also accessible via the National Agricultural Library at www.nalusda.gov.
Published by the National Agricultural Library, Agricola's primary focus is agricultural topics, but it also indexes journals in food technology, human nutrition, and recreation, and Cooperative Extension Service publications. Older literature can be identified using the paper volumes of the Bibliography of Agriculture (1942-1969) shelved on the main floor of the library.

Cab Abstracts 1984+
The CAB Abstracts database provides international coverage of the literature of agriculture, recreation, and related areas, including leisure studies and human nutrition. Journals, monographs, conferences, books, annual reports, and other sources from more than 100 countries are scanned regularly for inclusion in the CAB Abstracts database. 

Current Contents 1995+
This multidisciplinary, current awareness resource provides indexing and tables of contents to over 6,000 journals covering a broad range of disciplines. Many clinical and social/behavioral journals are included in this database. 

Food Science and Technology Abstracts 1969+ (Abstracts 664.05 .F739)
This serial abstracts articles, information from patents, books, conference proceedings, legislative papers, etc., devoted to food science, food technology, and human nutrition.

ERIC-CSA or ERIC-Direct 1966+
T
he premier national database of educational literature from 1966 to the present, ERIC also provides good coverage of other social sciences. It provides comprehensive subject and author indexing to more than 800 scholarly and professional journals in education and other social sciences.  It also indexes other types of documents including research reports, project and technical reports, curriculum guides, doctoral dissertations, masters theses, etc. Many recent ERIC documents are available online (see E*Subscribe below) or on microfiche in the library.

This medical resource provides comprehensive and reliable information from trusted sources in user-friendly language. Browse specific areas:  Diet & Nutrition; Medical Symptoms; Medical Tests & Exams; Children's Health; Pictures & Images; News; Quick Drug Information; etc.

IBIDS - International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements Database 1986+
Provides access to bibliographic citations and abstracts from published, international, and scientific literature gathered from Medline, Agricola, AGRIS and CAB Abstracts. Users can choose to search the Full IBIDS Database, a subset of Consumer Citations Only or Peer Reviewed Citations Only.

Medline (via CSA) 1997+
This National Library of Medicine database is the the premier bibliographic database covering medical journal literature and much information related to human and animal nutrition. Includes links to many full-text journals.

MEDLINE/PubMed  1950+
This National Library of Medicine database is the premier bibliographic database covering medical journal literature including many articles of interest to nutrition researchers. Some pre-1950 literature is also included. PubMed provides searching of older literature, but includes links to fewer full-text journals than Medline via CSA above.

Nutrition Abstracts
Electronic access through CAB Abstracts (see above). Paper volumes of Nutrition Abstracts, Series A (1931-1997) and paper volumes of Nutrition Abstracts, Series B, Livestock and Feeding (1977-1997) are located on the lower level of the library under this call number 612.3905 .N9593.

Web of Science (Science Citation Index) 1992-present
This multidisciplinary database of citations and abstracts from journal literature can be used as a conventional author-subject index, or it can be searched by cited author or cited paper. Prior years of the Science Citation Index are available in paper on the main floor of the library at Abstracts 016.5 .Sci27

AgEcon Search -- Full text copies of scholarly research in the field of agricultural economics including sub disciplines such as agribusiness, food supply, natural resource economics, environmental economics, policy issues, agricultural trade, and economic development.

CINAHL 1982+
CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature)
Although primarily an index to nursing journals, CINAHL has much of interest in nutrition and allied health sciences. 

Dissertation Abstracts International 1861+
This resource provides a subject, title, and author guide to over 1.2 million doctoral dissertations and masters theses.

Academic Search Premier (Ebsco) 1980+
Academic Search Premier is the world's largest scholarly, multi-disciplinary full text database containing full text for more than 4,600 scholarly publications, including more than 3,500 peer-reviewed publications. In addition to the full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for all 8,040 journals in the collection. This scholarly collection offers information in nearly every area of academic study including: health and medical sciences, social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering,  arts & literature, ethnic studies, and many more. 

Healthfinder -- An extensive searchable database of online health publications, clearinghouses, Web sites, self-help groups, government agencies, academic centers, and nonprofit agencies.

Ingenta
A database indexing the contents of over 16,000 journals and magazines in a wide range of disciplines. Full text articles are available for a fee.

LexisNexis Academic
Provides online access to full-text and bibliographic information from newspapers, news and business magazines, newsletters, wire services, broadcast transcripts, and biographical sources. 

MarciveWeb DOCS 1976+
Provides citations to United States government publications from July 1976 to the present. 

ProQuest - 1970's+
Search for articles on nutrition, hotels and restaurants, hospitality industry, careers, training and development, health policy, marketing, and more. Many citations are linked to full-text or full-image articles.
