AAUP is a professional organization whose purpose is to advance academic freedom, shared governance, and define professional values and standards for higher education.

American Educational Research Association
A prominent international professional organization, AERA has its primary goal as improving the educational process by advancing educational research and its practical application.

American Federation of Teachers
"The AFT is an 940,000-member union of public and professional employees, including public and private school teachers, paraprofessionals and school-related personnel (PSRPs), higher education faculty and professionals, employees of state and local governments, nurses and health professionals. The union exists to serve the interests of its members as determined by democratic processes at the local, state and national levels."

International Reading Association

The International Reading Association is a professional membership organization that promotes literacy internationally. The website includes information directed at the educator to aid in developing quality reading instruction. Links to publications, article summaries, and research are provided for numerous issues related to literacy and education.

 

International Society for Technology in Education

ISTE is an international non-profit professional organization for K-12 educators, technology specialists and administrators. The site offers free and cost based resources for curriculum resources.

 

National Association of School Psychologists

The mission of NASP is to promote and support school psychology through leadership in order to enhance mental health and educational competence for all children. Resources for crisis intervention are available for students, parents, educators and mental health professionals.

NCATE is a coalition of 35 professional associations of teachers, teacher educators, content specialists and governmental policy makers. It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a professional accrediting body for teacher education.

National Library of Education
The Library is a principal center for the collection, preservation and utilization of information related to education. NMSA is the only professional organization devoted exclusively to the educational development of adolescents.
