ASSOCIATIONS

American Apparel and Footwear Association. The AAFA is a national trade association for apparel, footwear, and sewn products companies and suppliers.
 

American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists. Browse AATCC standards, read about new products, hot topics of interest to those in the industry, and access employment opportunities.
 

American Fiber Manufacturers Association. The AFMA is the trade association for U.S. companies that manufacture synthetic and cellulosic fibers.

Apparel News. Trade shows, fashion news, and industry web links are featured in this limited web version. Full access available through subscription.

The Color Association of the United States. Color forecasting for the US textiles and allied industries. Includes color samples for the US Armed forces, dating back until 1915.

The Hosiery Association. THA is an association comprised of persons, firms and corporations who manufactures and/or process hosiery, or sell hosiery directly to retailers.

Industrial Fabrics Association International. IFAI is a non-profit trade association member companies represent the international specialty fabrics marketplace.

National Retail Federation. World's largest trade association.

National Textile Association. NTA is, a non-profit trade association representing textile manufacturers and industry suppliers from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Organization members process, spin, knit, weave, dye, print and otherwise finish fabrics in North America.

The Textile Institute.  The Textile Institute based in the UK, is an international organization serving individual and corporate members in over 90 countries. Membership covers all sectors and all disciplines in textiles, clothing and footwear.


United States Association of Importers of Textiles and Apparel. USA - ITA is a non-profit industry association representing the trade and customs interests of the textile/apparel importing community before the U.S. government and its regulatory agencies, the business community and the public.

GOVERNMENT

Small Business Administration. The SBA helps Americans start, build and grow businesses.

U.S. Census Bureau: Business & Industry. Economic statistics, trade statistics, surveys, and more.

U.S. Department of Commerce: International Trade Commission Office of Textiles and Apparel. The OTEXA  site provides information on trade data, trade agreements, trade events and exporting. Links to publications, research, associations and government agencies related to textiles and apparel are included.

U.S. Department of Labor. Labor statistics, employment standards, job safety, The Occupational Outlook and much more.

U. S. Federal Trade Commission for Business and Consumers. The FTC site for business and consumers contains useful information on advertising, packaging, labeling, statutes, rules and regulations, industry alerts, guides and numerous online publications related to textiles, apparel, and accessories.

WEB SITES

e-Answers. Searchable Web site covering research-based information on a wide range of Extension or Outreach-oriented subjects.

FiberSource. Published by the American Fiber Manufacturers Association, this web site contains resources for manufacturers including guides, handbooks, associations, and a FiberWorld Classroom.

FirstView. Provides free access to pictures of clothing currently in stores and some archived collections. Subscription options provide expanded access to in-production collections and current fashion show photos.

Home Textiles Today. Includes a market research link that chronicles the retail and manufacturing giants in the textile field.

InfoMat. Fashion industry search engine. Find  fashion designers, showrooms, retailers, & global manufacturers of apparel, textile and accessories' products

leRage.com. The World of Fashion Through Images provides a database featuring  a photo archive focused on designers and models that may be searched by designer, by model, by fashion shows, and by the country. Also featured is a calendar of current and future fashion shows around the world.

OAIster. A project of the University of Michigan Digital Library Production Services, originally funded through a Mellon grant whose goal is to create a collection of free online easily searchable academically-oriented digital resources.

Style.com. Features video fashion shows with links to specific designers.

Tech Exchange. Computer technology solutions for the apparel, textile and home furnishings industries. Access to forum on related questions and issues, industry news, related sites, etc.

TextileWeb. Links to information on manufacturing equipment and machinery, textiles, import/export, associations, and organizations. Includes news reports and product information.

TrendCentral. Trends and forecasts in style and lifestyle.
