Instructions for Requesting a Purchase
To submit a request, please fill out the appropriate form:
Print the form off and have it signed by your departmental library representative,
who will then forward the request to the Acquisitions Department.
Guidelines for requesting books:
1. Request cloth when available. The lower paperback price is offset
by their short lifespan.
2. Request textbooks used at SDSU only when specifically needed
for reserve.
3. Avoid requesting workbooks or other books that are intended for
one time use.
4. Avoid requesting indexes to individual journals.
5. Request multiple copies of books only to be placed on reserve
when demand for the item is high and the class will
be offered regularly.
6. Avoid requesting single issues of periodicals to which we do
not subscribe.
7. Request books in languages in which SDSU offers courses (English,
Spanish, German, French, and Lakota).
8. Avoid requesting 16-mm films, slide sets, computer software or
software manuals.
You may also submit requests by sending an E-mail to the
SDSU Librarians. We have a small discretionary fund for buying titles of general
interest and are happy to receive suggestions.
