The following databases and paper indexing and abstracting publications may be used to locate articles relevant to political science in journals, magazines, conference proceedings, books, and other sources.  Contact a librarian (605-688-5570 or 800-786-2038) for more information or for off-campus access for current SDSU student, faculty or staff members.

CIAO - Columbia International Affairs Online. 1991+.  A comprehensive resource for theory and research in International Affairs.  Includes conference proceedings, maps and country data, policy briefs, working papers, journals, books, schedule of events and economic indicators.  Includes the online edition of the CIA World Factbook.

CQ Researcher 1923+- CQ Researcher provides unbiased coverage of health, social trends, criminal justice, international affairs, education, the environment, technology and the economy.  Reports are published weekly in print and online 44 times a year by CQ Press, a division of Congressional Quarterly Inc.

CQ Weekly 1983+ - CQ Weekly is the largest news team on Capital Hill and it covers virtually every act of Congress, delivering nonpartisan news and analysis unavailable anywhere else.  Reports are published weekly by CQ Press, a division of Congressional Quarterly Inc.

CSA Social Sciences - Provides access to these databases:  EconLit, ERIC, National Criminal Justice Reference Service Abstracts, Physical Education Index, PsycInfo, Sociological Abstracts and other databases are included.

Current Contents.  Covers Agriculture, Biology, and Environmental Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Clinical Medicine, Engineering, Computing & Technology, Life Sciences, Physical, Chemical and Earth Sciences, Social & Behavioral Sciences. Contains the tables of contents and abstracts of articles from thousands of journals.  

EBSCOhost. This system of multiple databases covers a broad array of disciplines and topics.  Many full-text articles are available via the system.

 

JSTOR.  Provides electronic full text/image access to the back issues of more than 300 scholarly journals in many fields.

 

LexisNexis Academic. This database provides online access to full-text federal, state and international legal materials, as well as full-text and bibliographic information from newspapers, news and business magazines, newsletters, wire services, broadcast transcripts, and biographical sources.  Includes many international news sources.

LexisNexis Congressional.  Comprehensive access to U.S. legislative information from Congressional Information Service, Inc.

MarciveWeb DOCS.  Provides citations to United States government publications from July 1976 to the present.
National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) Abstracts Database. Contains summaries of more than 185,000 criminal justice publications, including Federal, state, and local government reports, books, research reports, journal articles, and unpublished research.
 
Project MUSE.  Provides full-text/image access to articles from more than 150 scholarly journals in the humanities, social sciences and mathematics from Johns Hopkins University Press.

ProQuest.  This resource provides access to several different bibliographic and full-text databases covering a wide variety of disciplines and topics, including the humanities, international studies, law, multiculturalism and the social sciences.

Social Science Citation Index, 2001+.  A multidisciplinary database of citations and abstracts from journal literature.  It can be used as a conventional author-subject index, or it can be searched by cited author or paper.  It covers an extremely large amount of social sciences literature including most social sciences disciplines. Older paper volumes, 1973-1976, 1985-1996, are shelved on the library's main floor in the abstracts area (016.3.So13) Access this CD-ROM database via a specific workstation in the reference area of the library.  For more information, contact a reference librarian at:  (605)688-5570 or stop by the library information desk for more information.
