Video Circulation Policy

SDSU LIBRARIES POLICY & PROCEDURE STATEMENT
SUBJECT:

Video Circulation

Statement number: P-1 Page 1 of 1
  Approved by:
Library faculty
Date:
January 1999
  Effective date: December 5, 1996
  Revised date: February 1, 1999

Videos are available at the Reserve Desk.  This policy applies to those videos owned by Briggs Library and not placed on Reserve by a faculty member.

Anyone can view a video in the library.  The library has three individual viewing carrels, one small group viewing room (1-3 people) and one medium sized group viewing room (up to about 15 people).   (This method is available for personal or departmental videos placed on Reserve, as well as those owned by Briggs Library.)

Faculty may reserve videos for use in class by calling the circulation department at 688-5107 or by sending us a list of titles, the dates they are to be used, when they will be picked up and when they will be returned.  We recommend reserving videos at least two weeks in advance of use so the library can get them back if they are checked out.  Videos may be checked out for the semester but are subject to recall as needed. It is recommended that they be picked up when a supervisor is present.  These hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Monday - Thursday 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.   A student assistant or staff member may pick videos up for faculty if the library has a permission slip on file and the student or staff member has the faculty member’s ID with them.

Staff and graduate students may check videos out for two weeks.

Students may also check videos out for 24 hours.
