ACCEPTING OTHER LIBRARIES' ITEMS TO BE RETURNED

SDSU LIBRARIES POLICY & PROCEDURE STATEMENT
SUBJECT:

ACCEPTING OTHER LIBRARIES ITEMS TO BE RETURNED

Statement number: P.4. Page 1 of 1
Approved by: Dean of Libraries Date: 30 Nov. 1998
  Effective date: 30 Nov. 1998
  Revised date:

Individuals may ask Hilton M. Briggs Library staff to return materials to other libraries. The library staff will attempt to return these materials to the appropriate libraries, free of charge* and in a timely manner.**  However, Briggs Library cannot assume responsibility for loss or damage of the materials during shipping or for late return fees if the materials reach the other library after the due dates.

Such materials will be shipped to the other libraries by the Briggs Library interlibrary loan staff.  Because other workload responsibilities are given priority, and because we cannot accurately predict the efficiencies of shippers and couriers, we cannot guarantee that the items will reach the other libraries by the due dates.  Unfortunately, materials sometimes are lost or damaged during shipping.  The library cannot be held responsible for such loss or damage of materials being returned to other libraries.

*When someone asks that 6 or more items be sent to another library, Briggs Library reserves the right to charge a shipping fee of $3.00 per item.

**Individuals asking that materials be returned to other libraries must assume all responsibility for the safe, and timely, return of such materials.  Patrons should be warned that items should not be considered as "returned" until those items arrive at the library from which they were borrowed.
