Faculty Inventory Policy
There are two due dates each year for faculty. These due dates are in the last week of March and September. Books borrowed 10-15 days before the due date are given the new due date, (e.g. the due date will change to the end of September around March 15). In the week after each due date, an overdue notice is generated for all materials that are overdue for each faculty member. This notice is sent along with a letter asking the faculty member to check that he/she has all the books listed on the notice before the items are 30 days overdue. If all the books are accounted for, the faculty member may sign a form accompanying the letter and overdue notice and return it to the library. This signed form confirms that the faculty member has all the books on the notice. The library will then renew all the books on the notice until the next due date. If the faculty member can't account for all the books on the notice, he/she must work with a circulation supervisor to resolve the inconsistency. Faculty library privileges are suspended if the inventory form is not returned within 30 days of the due date. If this happens, the faculty member is billed for all non-returned materials and their library privileges are suspended. Another copy of the inventory letter and the bill is sent to the faculty member. Library privileges are reinstated only after all the renewals can be processed by a circulation supervisor. By signing the form, a faculty member confirms that he/she has all the books on the accompanying notice at the time they sign the form. The library will retain the form with the signature and copies of overdue notices until after the next due date and the next form is returned. Return to Library Policies page.
