Opened in 1977, Hilton M. Briggs library is named for Dr. Hilton M. Briggs, South Dakota State University President Emeritus, President from 1958-1975. Briggs Library serves inquiring minds, with:

  • 31 full time staff

  • 620,000 volumes

  • 2,150 periodical subscriptions

  • 17,600 online electronic journals

  • 15,000 electronic books

  • 542,000 government documents

  • 6,500 interlibrary loans for you annually

  • 15,000 reference questions answered each year

  • 340 instructional sessions attended by over 6,000 students annually.

As you enter the library lobby, notice the following:

  • To your left is the circulation/reserve desk.

  • To your right is the stairwell, and also a long, narrow hallway to the microcomputer lab and the restrooms.

  • Straight ahead is the entrance to the reference room.
