Serials
The Serials Unit manages all of the journals,
magazines, newspapers, microform and electronic journals for the
library. This department is responsible for all aspects of the
library's current periodical collection; ordering, receiving and
maintaining the popular periodicals, the current newspapers, as
well as the faculty reading area.
Bindery
The Bindery Unit is responsible for the
maintenance of all the library's printed materials. Repairing
worn book spines, book covers and torn pages as well as
preserving printed materials from further damage are a few of
the ways that this is accomplished. The department is also in
charge of binding all of the periodicals for the library. The
Bindery also receives, processes, and oversees the binding of
all research papers, theses and dissertations of SDSU students
and faculty.

Binding of Theses
and Dissertations
The Bindery at Briggs Library is
responsible for the binding of theses and dissertations. The student is
responsible for bringing in the required number of copies of their
paper. The usual number needed is four (one for the dept., one for the
advisor, and two for the
Grad School).
Some departments have different requirements, please check with
your department to make sure of the number that they need. You may have
personal copies bound at the same time. The cost of binding is $10.00
per copy. We accept cash or personal checks.
The two copies for the
Grad School
will eventually be bound and housed at the library, one in Archives and
one in the circulating stacks. At least one of these copies needs to be
printed on white cotton rag paper (at least 50% cotton rag). The other
copies can be printed on any white paper of your choice.
The commercial bindery takes
between one and two months to complete the binding. |
