Greetings from the Dean of Libraries
On behalf of everyone at Briggs Library, welcome to the
2009/2010
fall and spring semesters.
I especially want to send greetings to students,
faculty, and staff who are recent arrivals to SDSU. Not
long ago I also was new to the Jackrabbit community. In July 2007 I traded
the University of Colorado at Denver for the smaller but equally
challenging world of Brookings and SDSU.
If you haven’t visited your library recently, you’ll find many
improvements when you enter our doors this year—whether the doorways
are on our building or on our web pages. These include . . .
-
more print and electronic resources
- reference, reserves, and
checkout services consolidated into a single desk
- a recent
fiction reading area
-
friendlier library web pages
- a coffee and snack cafe
-
and ILLiad, an easy way to borrow materials from
other libraries.
For 2009/2010
we’ll continue to improve our services by making the
library building a more comfortable place in which to meet and
study.
One of the perks of
being a
Dean of Libraries
is the chance to meet many interesting
people
throughout the year. I welcome the chance to meet you,
whether in person or by e-mail or phone. You will find me in Room
108 of Briggs Library or at
the e-mail address and phone number below.
Wishing you a great year,
David Gleim
